Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: unity
I find it cumbersome that for the dock in Unity to come up the mouse has
to hit the Ubuntu icon in the Unity panel. It should come up when the
cursor of the mouse hits any place in the left side of the screen. This
is the behavior in other autohide docks that I know (AWN for one).
