I have the same issue (ubuntu Maverick with fluxbox).

The error box appears only when I access to my home folder directly,
otherwise everything works fine. More precisely, opening $HOME/.fluxbox
is fine but opening $HOME display the error window described above.

However, when launched from command line, I can see the error message in
the console, even when I don't access my home folder directly. Here's
the output I got anyway:

** (pcmanfm:17724): DEBUG: FmJob error: Transport endpoint is not
connected

and if I access the home folder:

** (pcmanfm:17724): DEBUG: FmJob error: Transport endpoint is not connected
** (pcmanfm:17724): DEBUG: unable to load icon . GThemedIcon
application-octet-stream gnome-mime-application-octet-stream
application-x-generic
** (pcmanfm:17724): DEBUG: unable to load icon . GThemedIcon
application-x-trash gnome-mime-application-x-trash application-x-generic

It seems to be a problem with some kind of icons it can't find, for the trash
and "octet-stream" application.
I don't know the exact file name the program expects for those icons (neither
in what size it try to load them),
but aptitude says the Human icon theme I use is installed.

The problem appeared recently (worked fine before), however I made a lot
of changes recently and I can't tell what exact action produced it. I
think I must have uninstalled some part of the lubuntu desktop, but I
am not sure it has something to do with it.

PS: the error box is a classic gtk+ error window, exactly like the one
produced by "zenity --error"
