thanks for the bug report. Can you please test if the package unity-
place-applications is installed on your system. Also can you check if
the process unity-applications-daemon is running by this command
$ ps -x | grep unity-applications-daemon
** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
