Public bug reported:

This issue can be solved by appending “options snd-hda-intel model
=6stack-dell” to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.

I wish this can provide some insight for ubuntu developers to make this
feature work out of the box.

PS. I didn't test the solution in 11.04, since I boot the iso file
directly (which can't save changes I make), and the solution requires a
reboot. However, I can confirm that it works under 10.10.
