Install Your Ubuntu on /dev/sda7.

Copy Grub1 files (e2fs_stage1_5, jfs_stage1_5 ...) to /boot/grub from a older 
Linux partitions . 
Improve your menu.lst -> insert the correct data kernel, vmlinuz, initrd.img. 

Install from Live CD grub: 
grub> setup (hd0, 6). 

Start the system.
