I don't have an iPhone, I just happened to come across this bug while helping fix LP: #645680. So I'm afraid I can't test anything and actually verify these problems.
I simply saw that that patch you mentioned had been applied in the kernel in Ubuntu's kernel git repo. Sorry, can't remember any more details than that.
