Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdebi
While there's an argument to be made that end users shouldn't be using rpm packages at all, the lsb recommends software distributors provide rpm packages. This should convert to debs cleanly and work fine because of the restricted subset of rpm functionality they use (see: http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_3.1.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core- generic/pkgscripts.html ). All users have to do is install alien and run it from the command line to create debs which will work fine - but it could be more seamless if gdebi were associated with rpm files and could call alien on them before installing them. Just a thought. ** Affects: gdebi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- wish: gdebi should call alien to install software from rpms https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
