I just checked with a handful of environments from my GDM login window.
1) Ubuntu
This loads up a unity UI and reproduces the problem easily.
2) Ubuntu classic
This loads up a GNOME2 UI and reproduces the problem easily.
3) Ubuntu classic (no effects)
This loads up a GNOME2 UI and can not reproduce the problem.
