Here's a capture of the screen config gui. It seems that it detects an external 
monitor, but theres no external monitor plugged!
It was in "clone image" mode, so i changed it to the other option, the ubuntu 
icon is now present!
The ubuntu session is still broken, as is unity --replace (when logged in to 
unity-2d) but this maybe compiz-related...
But that's another bug...
