I have been having constant issues with the way launcher icons and
message menu indicate new messages, so to make sure it is not my
settings I have completely reinstalled clean beta1 and done all updates.
I have attached two files to demonstrate the issues:
1)Evolution always reported wrong everywhere
Currently I have setup evolution to use my normal pop account and it has 280
items in the inbox I amused that it this would be shown in both the message
menu and as a counter on the launcher icon(or does launcher counter just show
changes since you have been away from evolution?). But the message menu says 0
and the launcher has no indicators at all. Even when the notifier pops up to
say I have received another email both don't change. this must be incorrect for
both areas.
2) Empathy only shows counter change when an entire room in IRC has a change
and subsequent changes are ignored.
Please look at the two pictures attached to make this easier to explain:
I joined two rooms in IRC and changed the settings for both to show indicators
for each message so I expected the following behavior to happen
[What I was expecting]:
Each time there was a new message in the chat room the launcher counter
would increment by 1 and the message menu would increment by one for the room
total
[What actually happened]:
The first time there was a new message in the chat room the counter on the
launcher changed to 1 (which is good), the name of the person not the room name
appeared on the message menu with "0M", each subsequent message made no change
to the counter of ether of them. The only time anything changed was if a new
room had a message then the first person of that room was added to message menu
also with counter of "0M" and the launcher counter incremented by 1
In Summary:
So the counters on message menu were different from on the launcher, and both
did not reflect what was actually happening in the IRC rooms.
This feature could be so great but in its current form people will just
be trying to work out how to turn it off. Can I get some information on
how this is supposed to work so I can continue to test.
