I still have this problem on a hardy (8.04 x64) machine. All servers that were upgraded to lucid (10.04 x64) were fixed until the latest update. I have to manually restart winbind, which takes seconds but is an inconvenience and requires me to be around to do it. I tried a cron to restart winbind every so often but it didn't work. It always occurs in the morning as more people attempt to log in. I have around 20 users and typically have to restart winbind 1 or 2 times a day for each server.
