Hello, this affects me as well. I don't understand why this was marked as incomplete. Also, older solution for this issue rely on hal configuration, which is irrelevant in maverick. There is no decent way to configure this which I can find, and the "synclient" settings are reverted or suspend (as well as on logout or reboot).
