Just tried it with Ubuntu Maverick and Thunderbird 3.1.8 with the package /thunderbird-gnome-support_3.1.8+build3+nobinonly- 0ubuntu0.10.10.1_amd64.deb installed and it still does not work.
Just as a side note. This was one of the major blocking bugs which prevented ubuntu from beind installed in a company.
