Or wait - it was not error code 74, it was *block* 74. The Xapian code
converts the error code it get's to a string and that message is "Errore
di input/output". So you get an IO error when reading the S-C index.

@KT66: Any chance your disk is flaky or are you running with some
uncommon mount options or filesystems?
