@Bilal Akhtar : - Logging into "Classic GNOME session" using my usual user profile gives a result looking like what used to be a normal Ubuntu session in Maverick, i.e. basically working.
- Logging into "unity-2d" produces something which I assume to be OK, get a "status" bar on top of screen, some kind of vertical "menu" bar to the left with applications search tools.
