- Logging into "Classic GNOME session" using my usual user profile gives
a result looking like what used to be a normal Ubuntu session in
Maverick, i.e. basically working.

- Logging into "unity-2d" produces something which I assume to be OK,
get a "status" bar on top of screen, some kind of vertical "menu" bar to
the left with applications search tools. I'm not familar with it but it
looks like working...

- Logging into "Ubuntu session" (Unity 3D ?) brings just the desktop
background and icons, no status bar of any kind, no error message,
nothing else ever happens, but getting the bare desktop.
