Reply to Paul's comment: Ideally, the CPU should never overheat, and throttling is then useful only for reducing power consumption. However we are talking about very buggy hardware. A lot of laptops on the market today need special drivers to maintain temperature. There is even no throttling support in some models like Acer Aspire 1520 series. Therefore software CPU speed control is the only way to keep my machine going.
