I don't know the exact source. The update manager did offer me an update from "Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic)" (name taken from an old Backup of /etc/lsb-release) to current "Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS (lucid)" - and (after a backup) I did allow this update (over the internet, of course).
Here are some settings I did read out today from "Aktualisierungsverwaltung (update manager?) => Einstellungen (settings?)" which does open a dialog "Software Paketquellen": * "Herunterladen von : Server für Deutschland" * All checkboxes except "Quelltext" are checked * "Freigabe-Aktualisierung: Nur Freigaben mit Langzeitunterstützung" Maybe I did create xorg.conf while system initialization around 1,5 - 2 years ago... I remember having had trouble with X at that time and tampered with X configuration therefore. Can I help with more information (please describe possible sources)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740099 Title: Update to 10.04.2 LTS overwrites Xorg.conf without backup -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
