Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I remove some of the entries in software properties (repositories
selection) and I can't add them back... at least not all.

First of all: you can't add a new source repository. You can't select
"source" anywhere when you add an Ubuntu repository. I used to have
binary and source for each entry. Now i have only binary (which i want)
but i can't add source again.

Second of all: the add button on an Ubuntu repository does the same thing as
the edit button. VERY ANNOYING. Before I removed some entries I had everything
separated and it was clean. For example I want separate entries for main and
for universe/multiverse and when I try to add them it stacks them into one
entry (really nice... extra code for less functionality).
If you remove everything you'll then only be able to have 4 Ubuntu entries:
one binary, one update binary, one security binary and one backports binary
(you can only add those). By default it came with about 8 entries i remember.

Third of all: I tried writing /etc/apt/sources.list by hand and when I
launched software properties not only did it not recognize the changes I
made but it also overwrote it with what was before without even asking.

** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
