Binary package hint: vlc
VideoLAN stopped supporting VLC 1.0.x versions back on 22 January 2011.
Presently, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) is running VLC 1.0.6 and
therefore has not been receiving security updates for almost three
months. For security reasons, Ubuntu developers should have updated VLC
to the 1.1.x branch when support for the 1.0.x branch was stopped.
Why has the Ubuntu Team not updated Lucid Lynx installs of VLC to the
1.1.x branch? Security updates are promised for three years and yet VLC
has not been receiving security updates.
