I think your problem is:
You don't install the required components!
The solve:
Download the software from
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/glchess/glchess_1.0.5-1_all.deb?download
and write the following lines into a commandline:
sudo apt-get install python2.4 python-gtk2 python-glade2
sudo dpkg -i glchess_*_all.deb
