Public bug reported:
Sometimes when I do a reboot, especially after an update that prompts me
to do so, Ubuntu won't load the Desktop. The Ubuntu login sound theme
plays normally, the mouse cursor shows for ~5 seconds (overlaid on the
plymouth logo), then the monitor enters sleep mode. A restart always
fixes things.
