Looks promising, Mark.
Just would like to make sure, are certain, that you are using the FOSS radeon
driver, not the ATI's fglrx?
One way to check it as follows :
lsmod | grep radeon
lsmod | grep fglrx

And which one does? SUSE?

I built both 2.6.39-rc3 (2011-04-12) and 2.6.38.2 (patch dated 2011-03-27).
Neither could resume from suspend for me. There is the stable one .3 version
already though.

This is what looks promising, however I got a different output (saying
something about RS480), when enabling kms.
Thank you again!
