This seems to be a translations issue: In /usr/share/locale-
langpack/de/LC_MESSAGES/indicator-datetime.mo the date format strings
are translated with a trailing comma, e.g. "%a" is translated as "%a,"
In addition, the comma is included in the translation for the
combination of date and time, i.e. "%s %s" is translated as "%s, %s".
The two together lead to the "double comma".

 I do not see the trailing commas for dates in the launchpad
translations anymore -- so possibly this problem will simply disappear
with the next language pack update?
