I had previously run a couple of upgrade tests on April 6 to test some lupin
changes (bug 610898) - and I didn't have any problems then.
There were some minor differences in the way I did the upgrade for those
tests:
(a) I did the upgrade from a fresh 10.10 install, and
(b) ran the upgrade from the daily alternate CD (checking online as well for
later updates)

For this test:
(a) I did a fresh install,
(b) ran all available 10.10 updates, and
(c) ran the update using the update manager.

I've been meaning to rerun the upgrade to see if I can duplicate it, but
haven't yet had the time. Will do it again soon and post back.
