mbp: What reversion of the Ubuntu Mono do you (think) that you're using?
Is this coming from the PPA, or from something in ~/.fonts/ ?
The reason I ask is that looking at the Cyrillic 'а' and Cyrillic 'р',
they appear to have serifs where the vertical stem meets the bowl; and
that's not something that is present in the Ubuntu Font Family (where
the shapes are shared with Latin 'a' and 'p'). In the case of 'д' and
'ф' it's as though they are half-drawn and there are copies of other
outlines still present in the cell for tracing common outlines/curves
from as templates.
