Given enough time (e.g. for something to change in NM: wifi rescan
showing new or removed SSIDs, device changes, etc.), the VPN connections
do show up.
I don't think fixing this is feasible within the time frame for Natty
(since we're in freeze, and it seems like a substancial change to
implement another way to notify the applet of new connections). We'll
definitely look at fixing this in Oneiric.
