Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: unity
Until Ubuntu 10.10, with Classic Gnome Desktop, users where notified
while applications were starting up ("Starting <appname>" box in Gnome
window bar).
I believe this feature should be kept in 11.04 with Unity Desktop, so
users are notified in case of applications with long start-up time or
just in case of low-speed computers.
