Here is a potential solution to the broadcom problem. I tested it on a BCM4318 PCMCIA card. All nearby wireless networks are encrypted, so I was not able to completely test it. However, it does make the network icon work, and shows all nearby wireless network. To test it out, Install "firmware-b43-installer" from the Ubuntu Software Center. As described, this package installs the firmware needed for usage of the b43 kernel driver.
Supported chipsets: BCM4306/3 BCM4311 BCM4312 BCM4318 Disclaimer: 1) I don't know if this works 100%. 2) This may or may not be the official way to do it. If it is, then my opinion is that Ubuntu should make this driver discovery automatic/included, and not require any additional action from a user. 3) This bug may be a repeat of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/730290 JC Martian/vadimo, test this out and provide feedback to what happens on your computer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/761091 Title: Additional Drivers dont offer Broadcom driver on Natty 11.04 beta2 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
