A valid gpu dump was not collected in this case, and since there was no
noticeable failure I'm going to close the bug report out as a false
positive.
If I had to guess, I would suspect that virtualbox being installed may
have caused a conflict with the video driver, which freaked i915 and
caused the false gpu error to be triggered. but who knows.
