Can you grep for libvirt and kvm in your syslog, and look for any
oopses?
grep libvirt /var/log/syslog
grep kvm /var/log/syslog
The two kvm processes at the end of your bug description - I assume
those were after you had libvirt restart them? Or is it rather that the
kvm processes kept running while libvirt lost its connection to them?
Finally, could you upload your /var/log/apt/term.log and
/var/log/dpkg.log files?
