I have been using the mail notification icon in the top panel for the last few years in Ubuntu and I find it extremely useful. When I started trying unity, I realized it was difficult if not impossible to add functions to the top panel. In the 11.04 repositories, indicator- weather is notable for being a good example of how to get around this problem. It integrates perfectly with the unity top panel and has configurable pop up alerts for weather changes. If the Mail- notification applet can be rewritten to function the way the indicator- weather applet works, I think we would all be happy.
Perhaps this calls for a whole new class of rewritten apps, called indicator-foo that are designed around the new top panel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747463 Title: Ubuntu 11.04 Mail Notification needs to be included in systray to show number of emails in mailboxes -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
