This problem seems to be a corrupted file issue as when one tries to
open in Ubuntu 11.04, LibreOffice Calc via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget

it just hangs there without loading (let it go for couple hours in a VM,
did not budge).

* Check the file permissions for the documennt or drive.
* Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
* Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.
OK button

Click File -> Open -> File name: f116135184.doc -> Open and Repair ->
window pops up:

Looks like you have a corrupted file. If you made it in Microsoft Word
2003 feel free to follow the recovery steps found at:
