Martin: This "generic video card" sounds like a different problem and may be completely cosmetic. I would suggest spinning it off into a bug of its own with clear steps on how to reproduce the problem (e.g. 1. Run this program. 2. Scroll down to the motherboard section. ... ) along with the output of lspci lspci -vvn
