I also was very surprised to learn that the unity files place or lense
or whatever doesn’t make use of tracker when available. Zeitgeist is a
nice thing to have, but primarily for somewhat recently or regularly
used documents. Tracker, on the other hand, is a great way of finding
documents by content, even ones that you didn’t touch for a long time.

With the tracker applet and the deskbar applet, Ubuntu used to have two
(inofficial) ways of accessing tracker quite easily. I think in the
Unity universe, the files place would be the most natural way of
accessing files through tracker. Please consider supporting it in the
future.
