Running Ubuntu 10.10 for netbook, on an Asus Eee PC 1015PEM (or PED?
  whichever one that's single core)

occasionally when i lock my screen by closing the lid on my netbook, I
unlock my screen to a very unpleasant scene: 40 or more "Appearance
Preferences windows" are open in one or two workspaces, recent files are
opened in their default viewers at random (when i clear my recent
documents this doesn't happen). im not sure if this is just me or if it
is a problem for other people as well. Also could someone tell me how i
would go about killing a lot of processes with less typing PIDs or
clicking exit button as a temporary soloution?
