Tried and tested every possible combination of installs I can think of
now, 3D experimental driver reports "activated and currently in use",
but no longer works after ubuntu updates. Both of the binary drivers
report "activated, but not currently in use. This problem only occurred
after the recent updates, this doesn't seem to be a driver problem, same
drivers, system update caused problems!
