conn: There is likely more then one problem, though the observable symptoms appear similar. Matthew's logs show that the wpa_supplicant/SoftMAC driver combination would not always go 'State: ASSOCIATING -> ASSOCIATED'. Your log shows that the EAP handshake is failing once in awhile, which is after association has completed.
