Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: perl

1) install kubuntu 7.04 final using the i386 desktop iso
2) try to install VMware-workstation-5.5.3-34685
3) become sad :(

info:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/disk/vmware-distrib# ./vmware-install.pl
bash: ./vmware-install.pl: /usr/bin/perl: bad interpreter: Permission denied

so, i shouldn't have any permissions issues

lrwxrwxrwx 1 lavid lavid 23 2007-04-19 18:30 vmware-install.pl ->
bin/vmware-uninstall.pl
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/disk/vmware-distrib# ls -l bin/vmware-uninstall.pl
-r-xr-xr-x 1 lavid lavid 95435 2006-11-13 15:06 bin/vmware-uninstall.pl
everything is executable

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/disk/vmware-distrib# which perl
/usr/bin/perl

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/disk/vmware-distrib# ls -l `which perl`
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1077808 2007-03-05 20:05 /usr/bin/perl

:(

reinstalling perl from repos doesn't work

intelikey tried to help me with apt-get -u --reinstall --fix-missing install
`dpkg -l | cut -d' ' -f3 | grep perl`
but I got the following error:

E: Couldn't configure pre-depend perlapi-5.8.7 for liblocale-gettext-
perl, probably a dependency cycle.

once again :(
