I am also suffering from this bug, but I was able to import my photos using Shotwell. Icons for my camera (Kodak Z712 IS) and memory card would appear on the desktop and be visible in Nautilus. What I couldn't do was import/move/copy files using any other program than Shotwell. Since Shotwell only manages photos, I couldn't import my videos.
I tried the hacks above: sudo killall gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor sudo chmod a-x gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor Now I can import photos/videos using gphoto2, but I can't see my camera/memory card in Nautilus or on my desktop Has anyone found a better workaround? Or maybe even more importantly, does anyone know if this problem will persist with 11.04 (Natty)? As an aside I don't think this is a Gnome problem. I was using Gnome under Debian 5 before I switched to Ubuntu 10.10 and I had no problem. (Aside from this I am really much happier with Ubuntu.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331681 Title: Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
