@Ivo: the issue you report is not associated with this bug. This is
about compiz crashing. In your case, you have simply disabled the unity
plug-in - but since you're still using the unity profile, there is no
gnome-panel fallback. Re-enable the unity plugin to get the
functionality back. The fact that enabling cube disables unity is a
separate problem.
