I had a similar problem with my new MSI X370. I found that pressing "Fn-F6" (has a round webcam pic on the F6 key) and then running lsusb again gives me this.
jeremy@Mirage:~$ lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 5986:0241 Acer, Inc BisonCam, NB Pro Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0bda:0139 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub You may have tried that already, but I went a week thinking my webcam wouldn't work before I tried that. lsusb before doesn't have the BisonCam line. Hit Fn-F6, and run lsusb again, and poof... there it is. Cheese works great after that (though I don't think it's a stellar webcam). Hope that helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763977 Title: webcam not detected in ubuntu 11.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
