In my case, since 7.04 I have had several extreme problems whilst
upgrading. I generally ended up going through a great deal of pain,
wasted time trying to remember details of how I got my system setup
(after installing from the CD there's a ton of other stuff to do, taking
about a week to get the system back to where I want it again)...

Yet again Ubuntu is providing unstable service. Sadly, after I
reinstalled XP to play games last year, it hasn't faltered - it's
proving to be superior and more stable than Ubuntu.

I guess it's time to quit, maybe try out Mint (apparently they have a
better upgrade policy).

Now I see my 'ubuntu sunrise' custom GDM screen - and it just stays
there.
