Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
I attempted the upgrade a regulation 10.10 release (with all current
updates) to 11.04 using ubuntu-11.04-alternate-i386.iso. The install
terminated abnormally with "cannot mark 'ubuntu-desktop' for upgrade."
Pursuant to the suggestion about unofficial software, I used Synaptic to
uninstall everything that wasn't marked with the Ubuntu logo (with the
exception of cups-ppdc), and retried the installation, with identical
results.
/var/log/dist-update/ attached.
