Yes, later I noticed this should not be a regression. I didn't saw
before that in fact et131x is missing suspend/resume hooks, so any
kernel version should fail, and the original error in first dmesg you
posted is another problem (which the fix I included in first kernel
works).
I implemented suspend/resume support, and uploaded a new kernel to the same
previous url, please download and check
linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic_2.6.38-8.42+lp766549r2_i386.deb
Do the usual suspend/resume test you did, and attach here the dmesg.
If it works, then please also test these cases:
- boot without network cable, suspend, resume, and after this attach cable
again.
- suspend with cable attached, remove before resume, and resume the machine.
- suspend without cable, attach the cable before resume, and resume the machine.
In all cases you should not have problems after resume, if there is any
issue please report. If everything works, I'll submit the patch upstream
and work to integrate it into Ubuntu.
