after fresh install of 11.04 same behavior. can force boot using BIOS boot disc select, but when not using boot disc select and defaulting to CD-ROM first, then hard disc, BOOT hangs. When defaulting to hard disk first (no CD-ROM) with grub2 disk selected as default, will boot into grub.
