Hi! Thanks for the reply. I'll better show you some pictures so you can understand better.

The first one was rendered by xine on 07 March (as you can see), and that was before the upgrade of xine-lib. Remember that this file was erased (by me) from my PC because I burned it on a DVD... and everytime I put it back on the PC... it has that thumbnail (probably xine has some cache somewhere...) 2. The second picture shows you a new file (along with the other video files in the same folder) dated as 12 April, that has no thumbnail because xine can't render it anymore. Note that I did not changed my codecs, I did not even touch them... It doesn't matter what format the video is... it happend like this: the video was working great, I've made an update and the same video is not working anymore. I saw on the updates that xine-lib was replaced... Also, this is not the first time I encounter this error.... it happened to me long time ago on Fedora Core 6, and that's why I switched to Ubuntu (like 1 year ago).. in the mean time Fedora fixed the bug, and now it's on Ubuntu. The bug makes something to xine..I don't know what.. but it just doesn't work anymore.. I doesn't render the thumbnails of the videos in KDE... and Kaffeine only plays audio.... the screen is black. However, I've tried totem and xine-ui as you said. Totem plays the files.. all of them. But xine-ui doesn't want to... it gives me a codec error (as you said)... see this picture: http://server5.pictiger.com/img/1082310/other/-home-marius-desktop- screenshot-233534.png How can this be fixed? And the most important question is, if I manage to put that DivX 5 codec into my system...xine will render the thumbnails again? And how come until that upgrade xine was working just perfect?
