Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

This is more like design problem.

These problems are due to the fact, that the virtual desktops are
topologically equivalent to Torus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torus ).
There are two issues, one minor (but still annoying), and one major,
that is really an design flaw.

MINOR ISSUE: At first, it is very annoying, that one I move window in a
way, that I see only half of it, on the other desktop is this window
still visible. Usually I do it by accident (for example I move terminal
window to the side, so I can read something from the browser and use
that terminal. Then I move to the next desktop to check emails, and
there is a part of that terminal, that I do not want to see).

MAJOR ISSUE: You can resize window, that is on other virtual desktop and let it
overlap with your current desktop.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE: run empathy. grab title bar of the contact window and move
it to the left (so it will be automatically on the left half of the screen).
Move to the virtual desktop, that is topologically to the left. Move your
cursor to the right border of the screen. Press left mouse button and move
(while holding left mouse button) cursor to the left. Release the mouse button.
You just have a piece of contact list on your actual desktop. What is even
worse, that if you try to put this window back (while still pressing that left
mouse button), the contact list will be automatically aligned to the right half
of the screen.

PROPOSED FIX: each of the virtual desktop should be independent. Window
should be visible on only one virtual desktop at time. We have expo
plugin to move windows between desktops. Definitelly, virtual desktops
should not behave as an view of the one large desktop.
