Till this point what I did when this bug occured was to reboot the machine (because on 2nd boot up it would always work as expected). Next time, I will try whether Alt+Enter does the trick. However, I remember trying to type in the password despite the blank screen – which didn't work. (But maybe I made a typo so I will check that again, too.)
