Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

I have tried the propriety and free drivers for my ati card, both show the
effect although the propriety causes an increase in the offset. This is the
desktop not the mouse and unity bars these are correct.
The second screen can be made to appear by:
xrandr --output DFP3 --primary
However this does not fix the offset issues.
Unity desktop is effected. If I switch to my user defined session and activate
the unity compiz plugin the desktop is fine. However if I logout and log in
again the offset and missing desktop occur.
