Hi Antonio! As of Natty, Headphones are only supposed to mute internal speakers, not line-outs. However, upstream is working on to make this behavior configurable, so I assume it will be possible in the next version of Ubuntu, and likely earlier through upgrading alsa (which is not yet available for Natty).
